Carpet is an insulator, this means it can insulate against cold and warm temperatures, also noise.
Have you ever noticed it particularly noisy in some restaurants where there are hard floors…?
So, carpet in bedrooms is not only cosy, it is also great for sound insulation.
People say carpet is dirty…. well that all depends on your vacuum. If you have a low suction vacuum,
vs a power head vacuum, your carpet will hold the soiling, which in turn can cause premature ageing
and flattening.
Most carpets these days are very stain resilient (not proof), so if you have a spill, the trick is to get to
it quickly. Dab stains out, never scrub- it will fray the pile. Then stand on a towel to get excess water
out of pile. Synthetic carpets these days are Solution Dyed, which means the colour is all the way
through the pile, you cannot strip the colour out. So, stain and fade resistance are remarkable.
Hard floors which include Timber, Vinyl and Ceramic Tiles etc… are the obvious choice for heavy
traffic areas, and are easy to clean. But don’t be frightened to put a little luxury in your bedrooms or
even a TV room.
